Privacy policy

CardCarry does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no analytics and no advertising. Two features can send a card off your device, and only when you use them: iCloud sync and Apple Wallet.

What is stored

Your cards — name, note, barcode number and type, colour and pattern — are stored on your device and are deleted together with the app.

iCloud sync

Off until you turn it on in Settings. While it is on, your cards are kept in your own iCloud storage under your Apple ID, so your other devices can get them. Apple holds that data under its own privacy policy; we have no access to it.

Apple Wallet

A Wallet pass must be signed with a certificate that cannot be kept inside the app. When you add a card to Apple Wallet, the app sends that card — its name, note, number, barcode type, colours and picture — over an encrypted connection to our signing service. The service checks with Apple’s App Attest that the request comes from a genuine copy of the app, signs the pass and sends it back. The card is not saved.

Our hosting provider, Vercel, may keep ordinary request logs, such as IP address and time, for a short period.

Sharing a card

When you share a card, the message carries its name, note, number, barcode type and colour, a picture of the barcode and a link to our site. The card sits in the part of the link after #, which browsers do not send to servers, so opening the link shows the card without it reaching us.

Camera

The camera is used only to read barcodes. Frames are processed on the device while you scan; nothing is saved or sent anywhere.

Photos

When you choose Save image, the app asks for permission to add the barcode picture to your photo library. It cannot see the photos already there.

Screen brightness

While a card is open, the app turns the screen brightness up so the scanner can read the code, and puts it back when you close the card or switch the light off.

Widgets and export

Widgets show card pictures that the app keeps on the device. Export cards creates a file on the device and opens the share sheet; where the file goes is up to you.

What there isn’t

Children

The app is not aimed at children and collects no data about anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will appear on this page with a new date.
